In addition to the General Contest Rules, the following rules apply specifically to the Twin Fiddle Division:

1. Entry blank must be completed and entry fee paid before participation. A division is closed 1/2 hour before a Division begins, and/or before posting the order of contestant's play.
2. A contestant may enter this division only once. In other words, a contestant may not play twin fiddle with more than one other twin fiddler.
3. Fiddle Committee officials will randomly select numbers for all contestants for order of appearance. Contestant order will be posted one half hour before the division begins and the contestant must be ready to play when called.
4.

There are two rounds in this division. In the preliminary round, the contestants must play one tune, no longer than two minutes. In the finals, the contestants shall play one tune of their choice. In the event of a tie, a different tune must be played other than the tunes the contestants previously played in the Twin Fiddle Division.

5. Two minutes playing time in each round will be strictly adhered to. Two points will be deducted from the total score for every ten seconds or portion thereof over three minutes or two minutes respectively.
6.

No more than three accompanists may be used, of which no more than two may be 6-string guitars. Accompanists may not play the melody of the tune(s).

7.

Judging will be based on the following, for a total of 100 points possible for each tune:

Danceability and Rhythm 25 points
Production of tone 25 points
Intonation of notes 25 points
Difficulty 25 points
8. Long passages of unison notes should be avoided. Points will be deducted if one player plays alone for more than a few notes. Playing should be danceable and have an even tempo. Both tone quality and intonation will be considered in this division.
9. Any pair of contestants winning the Twin Fiddle Division three years in a row may not compete in the Twin Fiddle contest at the Columbia Gorge Fiddle Championship for at least one year.
